Really… What Came Before “The Secret”?

We are what we think, how we act, and what we do.
And believe it or not, it ALL comes from within.

Silent Power

Before we are fully awake, from the time we come out of that deep deep sleep, when we get up in the morning, we are bombarded by external noise –

the alarm clock buzzing, music blaring, coffee pot beeping, traffic outside, kids getting dressed… We live in the midst of noise everywhere, and some of the loudest sounds we hear are internal.

On top of all the outside noises, our minds are filled with a million thoughts – always one after the next. Zinging, swooshing, bouncing around in our minds… some we’re aware of, most we are not.

The external commotion of our environment combined with the inner chatter of the mind leaves little room for us to truly experience silence.

and sometimes, you want to shout to yourself ENOUGH! STOP THE NOISE!  But are not sure how.

Do you do this? I do this, keep the TV is on all the time, for background noise, not that I’m actually listening or watching it. and a lot of times, it’s muted. The activity on the channel is enough for mental comfort.

The trouble with silence is that many people feel the need to have that chatter, TV,  music, with noise of some kind. Silence can be disconcerting and can make people feel uncomfortable and alone.

But did you know that Silence is Energy? It’s our internal mode of protection, a way we remove tension and anxiety from our environment, to recharge our internal batteries, so to speak and create peace within ourselves.

But how do you stop the noise?

Think about your normal routine, instead of turning on the TV or the raidio to drink your coffee, sit outside for 5-10 minutes.

Focus on the coffee, focus on your breathing, while you’re taking in the aroma.

When you do that, you carry around that quietness and can tap into it all day.

There is a healing power in the quiet.  Silence can reveal an abundance of riches if we give it a chance to do its work.

Silence your eyes, by seeking always the beauty and goodness..  look to the sky and take in the vastness of it.

Silence your ears, by listening always to the voice of Nature.. trees have their own song if you just listen.

Silence your tongue, think before you speak.. harsh words spoken can never be unsaid.

Silence your heart, avoid all selfishness, hatred, envy, jealousy, and greed.

Silence your mind, by opening it to the truth and knowledge of the beauty around you.

We are the change we desperately seek, it’s not found in others, although we can tap into the comforting stillnes of others, we are unique individuals with our own Silent Power.
